The 16th edition of the international workshop on IMmersive Mixed and Virtual Environment Systems (MMVE) will take place on April 15th-18th, 2024 in Bari, Italy. It is co-located with MMSys 2024, a premier conference on multimedia systems.
MMVE is an interactive and discussion-oriented workshop that serves as an inclusive and interdisciplinary forum, spanning a broad spectrum of topics related to immersive media or extended reality (XR), including mixed reality (MR), augmented reality (AR), and virtual reality (VR). Within this vibrant space, researchers, from both academia and industry, come together to foster discussions, share novel ideas, and present their cutting-edge research contributions. It's a dynamic space where innovation knows no bounds, and new collaborations can begin.
In 2008, MMVE started its visionary journey of enabling multi-user interactive 3D virtual environments on a massive scale. Over the years, technical advances have ushered in a new era of immersive experiences. The most recent innovations, from head-mounted displays to wearable sensing devices and gesture-based input tools, have reshaped how users engage with the 3D virtual world. Thus, MMVE has embraced this evolution and has broadened its scope.
Today, MMVE stands at the forefront of immersive technology, embracing a multidisciplinary approach. This workshop not only explores the evolution of immersive experiences but also the exciting crossroads where immersive technology intersects with diverse domains. Topics of interest include (but are not limited to):
- Immersive and Interactive Content;
- Quality and Performance of Immersive Multimedia Systems;
- Perception and Behaviour in Immersive Experience;
- Support for Immersive Multimedia Systems;
- Applied Contexts of Immersive Multimedia Systems.
